Your files stay on your device
ShotX saves captures, imported private copies, OCR text, thumbnails, Library details and Secure Vault files in private storage on your device. ShotX does not offer cloud sync or upload these files to its servers or service providers by default. An imported original stays at its source unless you separately choose removal and that removal succeeds. A file leaves ShotX when you choose to export, share, copy to the clipboard or send it to another destination. Copies you have sent elsewhere follow that destination's rules. Android backup and device transfer are disabled for ShotX's private Library.
Screen, camera and microphone access
Android asks for screen-sharing permission before each new capture session. A full-screen recording may include visible notifications and system UI. Android's protected-content and audio limits still apply. ShotX requests camera, microphone, floating-control and notification access only when a selected feature needs them. ShotX does not use Accessibility or Usage Access to collect other apps' content or usage history.
Account and security
Free basic tools can work without Google sign-in. Screen Recorder, FaceCam and purchases require it. When you sign in, ShotX sends a short-lived Google sign-in credential to its security service to verify your account. That service does not retain the credential or your email address. ShotX keeps your Google name, email address and available profile photo link on this device for the Profile screen; the photo loads from Google. These local details are removed when you sign out, switch accounts or delete your ShotX account.
To protect access, our security service and its hosting provider process app and device verification information, an installation identifier, app version, authorization events and network information such as IP address. ShotX uses this information to check access, prevent abuse and limit an account to one active installation. The service keeps a pseudonymous account and device link while your account is active. For signed-in Free users, it also keeps the day and number of Screen Recorder and FaceCam starts used. Pseudonymous account and installation trial-use records may remain for up to 365 days after a trial starts, including after account deletion, to prevent repeat trials. Short-lived security records expire or are removed after account deletion. These services do not receive screenshots, recordings, OCR text, scans, filenames or Secure Vault content.
Trials, purchases and subscriptions
The optional ShotX Pro promotional trial requires Google sign-in but no payment method. It lasts 3 days, does not renew automatically and does not charge you. Our security and subscription services check trial eligibility before granting temporary Pro access.
Google Play handles payments and subscription management. A subscription provider receives a pseudonymous ShotX customer identifier and purchase or subscription status needed to show plans, restore purchases and verify access. ShotX checks that status before enabling paid features. These services do not receive private captures or Vault files. Google Play shows the actual price and renewal terms. Deleting a ShotX account does not cancel a Google Play subscription or stop billing.
Advertising
When Free ads are configured and available, Google's advertising and consent services may show a Home banner, an optional rewarded ad, or a full-screen ad after Library viewing. Ads do not appear during capture, recording, playback, account security or Secure Vault use. The ad services may process device, app, network and ad-interaction information. ShotX does not put capture media, OCR text, filenames or recording-start counts in ad requests. The app does not request Android advertising-ID or ad-services permissions. Based on the age entered during setup, younger users receive age-restricted ad treatment and general-audience content. Ads are not loaded before age setup is complete. Availability depends on consent, region, connection and the ad service.
Crash reports and on-device OCR
In ShotX 26.10.3, now available to internal testers, crash and app-not-responding reporting starts off. Eligible adults can turn it on separately in Profile → Privacy & Data. Collection stays off for younger or unknown-age users and in development builds. When enabled, a diagnostics provider may receive app and Android versions, device model, stack trace and an app installation identifier. ShotX does not add your Google identity, captures, OCR text, filenames, folder names or media activity details to these reports. Reports sent from an earlier build or while this option was on may remain under the provider's retention practices.
ShotX recognizes text on your device using an on-device text service. Its provider may process permitted technical diagnostics and usage information, such as app and device details, installation identifiers, performance and input or output sizes. ShotX does not send the OCR image or recognized text to its security service.
Feature analytics
In ShotX 26.10.3, now available to internal testers, feature analytics starts off. Eligible adults can turn it on separately in Profile → Privacy & Data; a choice they explicitly turned on in an earlier build can remain on after updating. Collection stays off for younger or unknown-age users and in development builds. When enabled, the analytics provider receives event names for completed capture saves and opens of the player, protected folders or Secure Vault. It may also receive a pseudonymous app identifier, app and device details, basic app or session events and approximate location inferred from network information. ShotX does not request precise location for analytics or send captures, OCR text, filenames, folder names, Google identity or custom media details. Advertising ID collection, ad personalization and automatic screen-view reporting are disabled. Turning analytics off stops new events and resets the local analytics identifier; earlier reports may remain under the provider's retention practices.
Performance diagnostics
In ShotX 26.10.3, now available to internal testers, performance diagnostics starts off. Eligible adults can turn it on separately in Profile → Privacy & Data; a choice they explicitly turned on in an earlier build can remain on after updating. Collection stays off for younger or unknown-age users and in development builds. When enabled, a diagnostics provider measures app startup, screen rendering and network request timing. It may process app and device details, an installation identifier, IP address, request endpoint patterns without parameters and response sizes. ShotX does not add capture content, OCR text, filenames, folder names, request bodies or user profile details. Turning this option off stops new reports; earlier reports may remain under the provider's retention practices.
Optional product notices
Adults may opt in to ShotX product notices. The messaging provider processes an app installation identifier and delivery information, such as a push registration and topic subscription. Registration is off until you choose this option; Android notification permission is requested only if needed. ShotX's security service does not receive your push token. Notices do not contain captures or Vault content and do not install app updates; Google Play handles app updates. Turning notices off unsubscribes the app, although delivery already in progress may finish.
Secure Vault
Secure Vault files and details are encrypted on your device using a key protected by Android. A Vault password and device authentication gate access. Vault files are not synced between devices. If the device or required key material is lost, encrypted files may be unrecoverable. Subscription expiry does not by itself decrypt or erase Vault files.
Age and audience
ShotX is a general-purpose capture and private-storage app designed for people aged 13 and older. Please enter your real date of birth in ShotX's neutral age screen so the app can apply the appropriate access and privacy settings. ShotX stores only the resulting age category on the device, not your full birth date. Users under 13 cannot open ShotX tools. Until age setup is complete, account and ad flows stay off. Age treatment and ad availability can also depend on local laws and provider requirements. Parents or guardians can contact us about a minor's data at the address below.
Retention and deletion
Private media stays on your device until you remove it or clear ShotX app storage. Exported copies follow the destination's rules. The pseudonymous account and device link and daily Free recording-start counts remain while your ShotX account is active. Authenticated account deletion removes that link and short-lived security records, and asks the subscription provider to delete its corresponding customer record; that request may take time to process. Pseudonymous trial-use records may remain for up to 365 days after the trial starts to prevent repeat trials. The app signs out locally but keeps private media unless you separately erase it. Google Play billing records and copies you have shared are controlled by Google Play or their recipients. Hosting, Google and other service providers may retain operational data or previously sent diagnostics under their terms and legal obligations. Contact us with a specific data or retention question.
You can request deletion in Profile → Account & Security → Delete ShotX account. Without the app, use the external deletion request page; we verify account ownership first. To erase local media and Vault keys, separately use Android Settings → ShotX → Storage → Clear storage. This is irreversible.
Your choices
You can use Free basic tools without Google sign-in, decline optional permissions, control eligible ad-consent choices, turn optional crash reporting, feature analytics, performance diagnostics and ShotX notices on or off where available, avoid exporting files, manage subscriptions in Google Play, and request account deletion. New capture in release builds requires current account and device security checks. Existing local files can remain available when capture authorization cannot be renewed, subject to the app's security checks.
Service providers and international processing
KOPSY Group LLP is responsible for ShotX's data practices. Other providers help deliver specific functions: Google for sign-in, Google Play payments, on-device text tools and ads; a security hosting provider for account and device checks; a subscription provider for trial and purchase status; and diagnostics, analytics and messaging providers for the optional or age-limited functions described above. Each receives the relevant data described in this policy for its role. These services are not a cloud library for your captures. Providers may process data outside your country under their terms and applicable safeguards. ShotX does not sell private capture content.
Changes and contact
We will update this page when ShotX's data practices change and show a new update date. For privacy, support or deletion questions, contact ShotX support at support@kopsygroup.com.
